There are no hard subjects to be cover in a presentation. There are only different ways of presenting them.
I did a “bad” talk at Rancho Dev when I’ve talked about Forms and Formik.
Audience
The main problem of this talk was about my assumptions of the audience. I’m used to talking in places that most people know basic React concepts, but Rancho Dev conference had more broad topics.
Your talk should always be focused on 1 person. I've chosen the wrong one, the one that knows React concepts and form concepts.
How to fix this talk?
To fix this talk I need to focus on the other person, the one that is not familiar with React and forms concepts.
I need to provide more high-level concepts:
motivation: why we need an abstraction to solve forms
component-based UI development
what is a form
what is a field
basic React concepts
How to avoid this?
When working in a talk for a conference you need to study both the content and also the understand who is your audience.
Share this article with whom is working on a talk to make sure they won't make the same mistake that I've made
